How do I book shows?
Booking shows is both a key source of revenue and an important part of getting out there and turning listeners into fans. It’s a good idea to start in your local scene and branch out, eventually finding a booking agent and touring.
“I am a big proponent of starting locally and building out from there. Likely, you also have data as to where most of your plays are coming from. Also, do some cool things online: virtual shows or live-streaming. Once you have a strong fanbase and a good thing going, obviously get a booking agent and tour. Figure out how often you tour, the types of venues you play.”

“Booking shows on a DIY basis means cultivating relationships with promoters who present shows in your genre at venues that you are likely to fill. When you start out, think about where developing artists in your genre play; often that will be open mic or coffee-house spaces, but as you are able to increase your draw (the number of tickets you can sell) you’ll be able to generate interest from promoters booking bigger rooms. Keep good records on everybody you talk to and every show you do. You’ll need to fill that room, so keep records that prove it.”
