Co-publishing Agreement
A music publishing contract in which the songwriter creates a publishing company under his or her control and that entity shares copyright ownership with a third-party publisher. The third-party publisher handles exploitation and administration of the songwriter’s catalog and the revenue is split such that the songwriter receives 75% of the total (50% representing his or her writer’s share plus 25% representing half of the publisher’s share) while the third-party publisher receives 25% of the total (representing the other half of the publisher’s share).
