Statutory Rate

Short for the statutory mechanical royalty rate, or “stat,” the amount of money, set by US copyright law, that songwriters are to receive when their songs are released on records. The current rate is the greater of 9.1 cents or 1.75 cents per minute of playing time (for physical and download formats) or 15.1% of gross revenue collected from streaming exploitations (split roughly evenly with public performance royalties).
